Did you know...
Pink pepper is not really pepper at all. Unlike black, white and green pepper, which are the fruits of Piper nigrum, pink pepper is the fruit of an evergreen tree called Shinus molle, native to Latin America. The fruit that grows on this tree has a characteristic pink colour and is very similar in shape to a pepper berry, which is why it is commonly called pink pepper or false pepper, even though it has a completely different, much more delicate and sweet taste.
